Laurie's Housewarming Party - 06FEB04

Laurie has recently moved into a new apartment - new for her, I know everyone else who's involved. It's an interesting little musical-chairs of an arrangement! But anyway, she had a welcoming party at her place, which was tastefully decorated and staffed with an affable bartender-in-training. Here, then, is a selection of moments of the evening from my blurry, smeary perspective.

Good ol' Troy, always there to tolerate my pictures and enjoy a drink in the process. A couple Scotts for your pleasure! They're more than enthused about the evening too.
You can't see it, but there's a bar back there. People are getting drinks. Here's a pleasant little couch of acquaintances and compatriots: Ursula, Christel, Caly, and Jarrin!
Moody exposure helps me emphasize the artful elegance of this apartment. I really like this place! Similar lighting technique is applied to the group of sofa-bound friends.
More partygoers and wellwishers congregate and mingle. Heh heh... I didn't really mean to surprise Demi, but she saw fit to get me back for this one later.
And here's... a bunch of people. I recognized many but didn't know their names. Here's this weird little dog that was following me around. It gave me an eXistenZ-like murder fantasy.
Demi and "Chebutykin" (I only know her online handle, not her IRL name) cozy up to the bar. Oh good, it's Caly! I know her name.
There's, uh, someone... "Frost" is the bartender... and Sasha just showed up. I don't remember taking this picture, but it's a good shot of jodi and Scott in conversation. That's cool.
Oh, it's Emily! I guess that was Emily in the above picture, judging by outfit. She didn't hold still for the shutter-drag; most people don't know to. It's so funny, Sasha begged and begged me to take her picture, and then she hid her face! Why would she do such a thing?
Across the room, Christel and Troy enjoy a quiet moment to take in the skyline. I think the shutter-drag accurately reflects this flurry of activity as people started showing up. In the fore is Mamagoth and her man.
Martin, Jeff, Ziad, dunno, and Melissa - milling about in the kitchen by the entryway. There were some delicious snacks in the kitchen! I like this shot of Martin, it's like a character profile before a TV drama or something.
Yes, thank you, Jessica (Mamagoth). Thank you for playing nicely with the boys. Your reward waits in heaven, where you'll never get it.
Ugh, it's chaos! I don't even know what's going on! But I got a shot of Nicolle, no matter how she tried to dodge. Dan's prepared to rock out. Dan's always prepared to rock out! Get out of the way!
I really love snowfall, and I thought the lighting on the parking lot was particularly attractive. I liked how there was one white light bulb lot in a city of orange street lights.
Uh, heh-heh, I couldn't hold the camera still enough for a good skyline shot of St. Paul. Here's a section of the basement, where I ended up spending a lot of time, trying to wait out my blue funk.
Even from the basement, this straight-shot to the top of the building can cause a little vertigo... One wall in the basement was artistically carved out and left rough-hewn. I liked the effect.
