Karaoke at David Fong's with Molly and Scott - 29JAN04

Molly and Scott came up from Chicago, they were looking for a soul to steal... oh, no, wait, they just wanted to sing karaoke with friends, the way we used to! They called a bunch of us out and we filled out a few tables and sang our hearts out.

Sasha and Allison settle in at the table. We were fortunate to receive the service of the waitress made entirely of plastic.
Erika sits next to Molly's mom, Deb, having lo mein. Scott, Molly, Ashley, Ryan. All snacking, waiting for the music to start.
You can see Molly and I are in transports of joy. Locked! Locked and rapt in the throes of joy!
I get fuzzy for a moment as I contemplate the lyrics coming up: Supertramp's "Breakfast In America". Wow, the range is a little higher than I'd anticipated...
Yeah, I'm really yelling now, probably the nonsense words. Ashley gets up and takes her turn!
Jordan and Sasha regard bemusedly, but will not participate, oh, no. Deb peeks over Kevin's shoulder; his girlfriend Kristy has permitted him to show up.
'70s-fetishing Ryan gets up to do some credible Dylan. Oh, and here's a saucy little goat, getting warmed up for the evening.
Business clothes, cigarette and drink in hand: Mr. This Guy renders an entertaining "That's Amore". Kevin and Kristy in a playful moment.
Deb's probably covering "I'm a bitch, I'm a mother...", however that goes. She has fun with it! That's what's important!
Scott's turn! Maybe if you squint it looks like his mouth's moving? He knows the words, he just looks at the screen just so we're not intimidated.
This is one of the regulars, I think he's called Rock 'n Roll John. Jeremy and Scott share forbidden secrets!
Sasha and Allison grin pleasantly for the camera! Now nice! Table of Contents; Table of Malcontents
This is the jackass who chose a difficult Eminem song he didn't even know, then walked out in the middle of the song. BOO. The jackass brought his friend up there, who's also a regular, but... not like a good regular. She started screaming into the microphone until the KJ shut her down.
Oh, and here's me again. Looks like I'm covering a Chinese military ballad, but I'm not: The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". This is Miss Terri, another regular at this particular karaoke night. She has a great voice and the people love her.
Never seen her before, but then, I don't get out much. Erika takes her turn with one of her favorites, The Dead Milkmen's "Punk Rock Girl". I'm guessing.
Scott and Kevin get up and do one of my favorites: Gorillaz' "Clint Eastwood"! He does a really good job with keeping up with the changes - he must know this song!
Now you can see the words and sing along! Scott is excellent vocal support here. It really, you know, fleshes out the song, makes it come alive.
This is also the night of wackily-themed pens and chain smoking... Is he eyeing me suspiciously? Or did he only just notice me?
This is Molly probably doing Zeppelin, "Whole Lotta Love". She can really belt it out there... Action sequence! Yelly VonHollerlots to the fore!
Here, she shows me how she can stick a knife down her throat, but I zoomed in too closely. Damn. Deb gets up again by popular request.
She's doing Blondie's "Rapture"! Probably the first rap song ever at all anywhere! Making his triumphant return to the mic is Ryan!
The KJ knows Molly's visiting from Chicago, so she permits her to round out the night. Molly's tolerance lever for cameras has plummeted considerably by this point.
