Wintry Morning in Mpls. - 10DEC03

I was so charged about last night's foray into the hinterlands that I brought my camera with me to work. I figured traffic would be so slow that I could snap a few shots out the windows of Bonaparte. Unfortunately some of the road pictures weren't nearly as pretty today as they were yesterday when the snow was fresh and falling, but there are still some interesting characteristics for people who don't live here.

Poor Bonaparte, frozen in place after a full night of snow. Lake Calhoun from a moving vehicle.
Excelsior Boulevard, out of Uptown and into destiny. Diligent laborer with his shovel and plow, digging out a bus stop.
Racing towards the golf course during a rare moment of velocity. This was all so much prettier yesterday morning...
Now entering St. Louis Park, currently under development. The crappy, crappy road conditions on the onramp to HWY 100 from Excelsior. Budget cuts mean fewer snowplows.
Northbound 100 was choked with traffic! Always live in the city and work outside of it! Never the other way! Over the slush and snowdrifts and arrogant, reckless drivers, you can see the overpass of 77th St. over 100, and the building next to mine.
Bonaparte around noon: icicles have formed in the afternoon sun! 3/4 shot of Bonaparte and his frozen drippings, and where ice builds up in the wheel well.
A shot of decorative streetside pine trees and a ridge of snow plowings. Heh, this is how high the snow can pile when the plows clear out a parking lot. And it can get even worse.
This car's been here all night long. I wonder whose it is? I really like the effect of snow on pine trees.
