Snow in Minneapolis - 09DEC03

Yay! It's winter! My favorite half of the year! People are outside getting their noses and ears frostbitten, spinning around in the snow and ice in their cars, cutting each other off in traffic, ignoring stop signs and red lights - it's a magical time of year! I thought I'd run around at 11pm on a Tuesday evening just to show everyone what my section of the city looks like under a thick blanket of tiny snow particles.

Please pardon the flecks of light that speckle each image - those are snowflakes caught in the flash of my camera. And as always I apologize for the blurriness - next time I'll bring my tripod.

Looking south on Bryant Avenue at all the parked cars.

Some bushes next to my building, laden with snow.

Behind a nearby apartment building.

Trash bins by same building.

Front of car covered in snow, the bumper from which icicles have formed.

The apartment bldg. next to mine, decked out for the holiday.

Isn't this cute? Two rows of bikes, chained up in the snow!

The intersection of Franklin Ave. and Hennepin Ave., looking west.

Sidewalk southbound on Hennepin Ave.

The snowplow, stalwart workhorse of the northlands!

A quaint, classic house with snow-bearing pine tree! (It's a legal firm.)

Snow drifts jut over the edge of this little shrubbery wall.

What's this bizarre graffiti mean?

Clock in front of funeral parlor.

Fire escape behind beautiful classic architecture apartment building.

You can't see the dead bushes and shrubs so well...

Snow capping an iron fence.

Snowy tree leans out over iron fence.

More Xmas decorations, more snow covering the walk.

Coniferous trees so heavily quilted in snow!
